Here is Joe's 2000 Standard Telecaster. When you hear this Machine, You'll know why no other Guitar Sounds like a Tele. This one has an Alder Body, a 1 Piece Maple "C" neck with Medium-Jumbo frets, 3 way switching and 1 re-worked lipstick single coil pick-up in the neck position with the metal cover re-grounded to a push/pull pot in the tone position that when pulled, gives this tele 3 new sounds in the "out of phase" category making this tele have a total of 6 sounds now! The bridge pickup was taken from a 1961 Esquier which sounds exactly like those early zep recordings too.. Joe Completely Re-Wired it with vintage Style cloth wire and U.S.A. CTS pots. It has a sharp white-pearl pickguard along with a "Vintage Blonde" Finish.
Here is Joe's Jay Turser JT-34 Hollow-body Electric. This guitar is ready to Boogie! Joe used this guitar for much of the rhythm & Lead Guitar tracks on his CD "Livin' & Dyin". He also uses this guitar "Live" quite often. This guitar has been Custom Modified beyond belief!! For starters, He found 2 Original Epiphone PAF Humbuckers from a 1970 EPI, Then converted them to 4 conductor wiring, then wired them like one of Jimmy Page's Les Paul's using 4 Push/Pull Pots and a custom 3-way switch, giving a multitude of sounds. It also has an Arched Top, and Medium-Jumbo Frets. The Vintage Tobacco finish on this guitar is stunning! Here's a true story about this guitars tone.. On one particular night, Joe's drink kept vibrating off the table, there were 3 drinks spilled in a row, within minutes apart, just caused by the vibrating tone in the room! Joe thought it was either that, or John Lee Hooker's Spirit. Click to hear a sample.
This is Joe's JT-50 Custom "SG" from Jay Turser. It's got a beautiful see through Ivory White finish, with all Gold Hardware. Joe Custom Wired it with Vintage Cloth Wire and U.S.A. CTS Pots. For the Pickups, He Re-wired A Gibson 490r in the neck position to 4 conductor wiring, then did the same thing to the 57 Classic Plus in the bridge, then he added a Push/Pull Pot to the 490r to convert it to Single coil mode, which also puts the 2 pickups out of phase! We're talkin B.B. King, Albert King, and Jimmy Page all rolled up into one! Bound, Maple set neck, Rosewood fretboard, and Pearl inlays! Joe played this guitar for much of the heavy solo's on his cd "3", and usually brings it to the show. Click to hear a sample.
This is Joe's 1983 Vanguard Imperial Flying V. This guitar was one of the finest guitars that the Kramer company made. It was built in Neptune, New Jersey U.S.A. He purchased it new, and has since COMPLETELY overhauled it. For starters, Joe re-finished it in the Heritage Cherry that you now see. In addition, he stripped the original finish off the maple neck, then actually shaved the back and sides to custom fit his own hands, then re-fretted it with the biggest jumbo frets he could find, then applied a satin finish to it so he could dig-in better. The pick-ups are now Gibson 496R/498T Zebra coils, custom wired. There are now 2 push/pull pots that can tap all 4 coils, put them out of phase, or keep them in series. Joe kept the original Floyd Rose tremolo since this was the 1st year for it on a U.S.A. Kramer. This thing is sick, and it took Joe almost 2 years to complete. Click to hear a sample.
This is another rare guitar that Joe brings to the show. A Danelectro Model 3021 in Limo Black. This guitar is dated 1964, and is completely original. The only modification done by Joe is he upgraded the Danelectro bridge with the individual steel saddle adjusters, and the original "seal" pickguard has been changed with a repro. (You can't find an original one ever..) This guitar is also a hollowbody instrument that has a sound like no other. Click to hear a sample.
No Guitar Arsenal would be complete without a great acoustic. This is Joe's Fender Telecoustic. These guitars are becoming more and more popular because of their versatility on stage and in the studio. Joe used this guitar on much of the acoustic work on "Livin' & Dyin", and used it some on "The Real Deal". This guitar has a Solid Spruce Top, Genuine Fender Telecaster Maple neck, with a Rosewood Fretboard, along with a Fishman pick-up in the bridge. The Finish is Candy Apple Red and it looks awesome. For strings, Joe uses a custom string gauge of .011's on this guitar. Mainly because he likes to shred on his acoustics if possible, without having to glue his fingers back together from using regular acoustic strings. It doesn't always help...

Here is Joe's Jay Turser Acoustic/Electric Dobro Resonator Guitar. Real Bluesmen know that this is THE guitar for playing the Delta Blues! If you wanna hear Joe wail on some slide, go see one of his acoustic shows. In fact, this was the main git-fiddle on "The Real Deal" CD. It's got a Peizo bridge pickup, along with a Mini Humbucker in the Neck position. The Vintage Tri-Burst Finish Looks as good as it sounds too! Click to hear a sample. (This sample is the full length version of "Walkin' Blues".)
Here is Joe's Custom made 6 string Banjo. He built it using parts from an Old Gibson Banjo. This thing is great! Joe used this for texturing the background tracks for some of the "Real Deal" CD. He uses Standard Acoustic Strings on it too. Click to hear a Sample.
For that Big Bass Sound, Joe uses his own Hand-made version of the Fender P-Bass. This Bass has a Full scale neck with Jumbo Frets, and a Vintage Fender Split-Single-Coil Pick-up. Joe Prefers using Medium Heavy Strings.
(.105 .085 .070 .050)
He uses this Bass exclusively when he records. Click to hear a Sample.
